Where the stories come from
Every story on Devakathasagara is a retelling of a story from a published source whose copyright has expired. The words of each retelling are new; the events follow the source. A story's own page names its source, and the "Source details" panel at the end gives the work, translator, edition, scan and passage.

Public-domain sources
We use sources that are in the public domain: works whose copyright has expired, or that were never protected. Where a source is a translation, the translation itself must be in the public domain, so for every story we record the translator and the edition and check them before the story is published. This page is a statement of how we work, not legal advice.
Sanskrit verses
Where a story includes a Sanskrit verse, it is given as the source has it, in Devanagari, with a transliteration and a short meaning, and the source is named.
Sharing and reuse
You are welcome to read, link to and share the address of any story. If you would like to reuse the text of a story elsewhere, please write to us first at support@devakathasagara.com.
What is counted
We count how many times each page is opened, so we know which stories are read. The count is kept by GoatCounter, a service that uses no cookies and identifies no one. It records the address of the page and nothing about you. Nothing you type in search is counted or stored.
A concern or a correction
If you believe something on this site should not be here, or you have found an error, please write to support@devakathasagara.com. Tell us the address of the page and what concerns you. We will look into it, and correct or remove the content where that is right.
