Vidyaranya

Madhava, the elder of two poor Brahmin brothers of Warangal, follows his younger brother to Sringeri and is given the name Vidyaranya, the forest of knowledge. He is initiated by Vyasa at Badrika, meditates on a hill near Hampi, where two royal brothers come to him and a great city is laid out, and he ends his days as the twelfth head of the Sringeri seat.
