Swami Nityananda of Ganeshpuri
Died 1961 (birth not known)Maharashtra
Nothing sure is known of where he was born or who his parents were. A legend tells of a foundling guarded by a cobra in Kerala. What is told with more confidence is that he wandered to the Himalayas and the south, raised cave hermitages in Kerala, and settled near an old Shiva temple at Ganeshpuri, where thousands came to sit near a man who spoke very little. He left his body there on 8 August 1961.
